Dr. Sonya Mohan

Dr. Sonya Mohan is a Board Certified General Psychiatrist with a diverse training in all facets of psychiatry.
Dr. Mohan received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. She obtained her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa. and went on to complete her psychiatry residency training at Palm Beach Consortium for Graduate Medical Education in Florida. She is currently the Chief Fellow in University of Illinois’ Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program. In 2021 she was nominated for Resident/Fellow Of the Year award by UIC's Psychiatry department.
Dr. Mohan specializes in a variety of psychiatric conditions and treatments including eating disorders, body dysmorphia, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, addiction, personality disorders, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, and sleep disorders.
She enjoys working with patients who are interested in enhancing their quality of life through a combination of medications and lifestyle modifications. She believes in the importance of incorporating compassion, kindness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard in the treatment of all of her patients. She uses a holistic approach to wellness and enables the patient to actively participate in their care.
Sonya is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Mohan enjoys watching stand up comedy and playing with her dog named Daisy.
