Skill Building for Children
At ASCEND we work with kids and families to develop important skills that lead to healthy, meaningful connections.
We understand that the demands of family life can be complex, and we’re here to be a trusted partner in supporting your family’s well-being. Whether your child is facing unique academic pressures, balancing multiple commitments, or working through personal challenges, we’re dedicated to helping them thrive and foster healthy relationships today and in the future.
By encouraging these skills at home, you’ll empower your child to form stronger, more empathetic connections with others.
Below are examples of tools we work with kids and families on.
💬 Active Listening – Encourage your child to listen carefully, maintain eye contact, and avoid interrupting others.
🤝 Respecting Differences – Teach them to respect differing opinions and agree to disagree without judgment.
💖 Choosing Kind Friends – Help your child understand the value of selecting friends who are supportive, kind, and respectful.
🔄 Adaptability in Friendships – Remind them that friendships can change over time and it’s okay if not everyone is a “best friend.”
🚪 Protecting Themselves – Teach them when it’s important to step away from relationships that are hurtful.
🌱 Being Yourself – Help your child understand the importance of having friends who allow them to be their true selves.
