Kristin Burke, LSW

Kristin Burke, LSW (she/her) received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Eastern Illinois University, and she later earned her Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. Kristin is certified in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, a developmentally sensitive, neurobiology-informed approach to trauma treatment. Before joining Ascend, Kristin worked as a clinical therapist at a residential facility that specialized in the treatment of eating disorders, mood disorders, and substance use disorders. Additionally, Kristin completed her internship in an eating disorder program at the PHP and IOP levels of care. While there she provided individual and group therapy to adults seeking treatment for various eating and mood disorders.
Kristin takes an integrative approach to therapy based on client needs. She incorporates aspects of DBT, ACT, mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy into her work. Kristin believes that the most important aspect of a successful therapeutic relationship is the connection between a client and therapist. She works hard to create a space which nurtures that relationship through empathy, compassion, humor, understanding, and validation.
