Jack Lisy, MSW, LSW
Staff Therapist
Jack Lisy earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola University Chicago and master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His journey has led him from supporting individuals in substance use recovery to now focusing on the intricacies of eating disorders at Ascend. Jack's experiences have taught him the value of empathy, patience, and the nuanced understanding required to support individuals on their path to healing.
In his practice, Jack combines the depth of psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy with the practicality of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques. This blend is designed not just as a method of treatment but as a way to build a secure space for individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings openly.
Jack serves a diverse group of clients, including adults facing challenges with eating disorders, ADHD, self-esteem, addiction, and those at various stages of their therapy journey. His approach is characterized by a gentle, compassionate demeanor, emphasizing the importance of building a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship.
He believes deeply in the transformative power of therapy, not as a quick fix but as a journey of collaboration, discovery, and gradual change. Jack's goal is to walk alongside his clients, offering guidance and support as they navigate the complexities of their experiences, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-discovery.
In every interaction, Jack aims to be a source of steady support and understanding, helping each client move towards healing at their own pace and in their own way.
